About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced Buyer IV to lead the procurement of complex mechanical components, engineered assemblies, and technical services in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
This role partners closely with Engineering, Operations, and Supply Chain to ensure cost, quality, and delivery objectives are consistently met. The ideal candidate brings strong technical aptitude, advanced sourcing expertise, and the ability to mentor junior buyers.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement Leadership
Manage purchasing of complex mechanical parts, assemblies, supplies, and services
Align procurement strategy with MRP requirements, cost targets, and production schedules
Drive cost reduction initiatives while maintaining quality and supplier performance
Supplier Development & Management
Build and expand a high-performing supplier network
Negotiate pricing, contracts, and terms
Resolve supplier non-conformances and performance issues
Track supplier KPIs (quality, delivery, cost)
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with Engineering to evaluate alternative materials and components
Support new product development and continuous improvement initiatives
Participate in technical reviews and sourcing strategy discussions
Technical Expertise
Interpret advanced 2D/3D drawings and specifications
Ensure sourcing decisions meet technical requirements
Provide guidance on manufacturability and supplier capability
Mentorship
Serve as a technical resource for junior-level buyers
Share best practices in sourcing and supplier management
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field (or equivalent experience)
7–10+ years of progressive purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment
Demonstrated experience sourcing complex mechanical parts and engineered assemblies
Strong blueprint and CAD interpretation skills
Advanced negotiation and supplier evaluation skills
Hands-on experience with ERP/MRP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar)
Experience managing high-complexity procurement projects
